Op – Stap vzw (Step – Up) vzw (non-profit association) is an association of two national Training Institutions: De Kei and WIEV. It is a pluralistic and independent organisation, specialising in dealing with people with an intellectual disability.
We aim to help people with mild or medium intellectual disability, who are capable of working within a group. Our non-restrictive entry policy allows people from different environments to be brought together in an independent setting. We emphasise equality and self-respect for our clients, and endeavour to show our belief in their potential. This results in an adult approach where we offer maximum participation in the group and the leaning process.
The federation offers informal personal development training with a special focus on peer group interaction. The aim is to support the clients to allow cultural and social development, so that they can integrate and participate in a more inclusive society.
WIEV vzw: is an organisation dealing with the development of potential and self-expression. It gives clients assistance with their living situation and helps them to be socially active by working on their communication and social skills.
De Kei vzw: is also concerned with allowing people to become more independent, and improving their living environment. Areas of assistance include communication and relation skills, expression skills, cultural participation and working on the digital gap.
The federation Op – Stap vzw: would like participate in an international exchange of people with disabilities affecting their living and working situations.
